What is RPC endpoint?

Also called: RPC

Definition

An RPC endpoint is the network interface an application uses to read chain state and submit transactions. It is the connection between a frontend and the blockchain.

In practice

Teams usually rely on a hosted RPC provider rather than self-hosting, which makes that provider a single point of failure and a place where request data can be observed. Rate limits and regional latency are common causes of a dApp that feels broken while the chain itself is fine.
