What it is
ETHGlobal Mumbai is an in-person Ethereum hackathon at the Jio World Convention Centre in Bandra Kurla Complex, running 5 to 7 November 2026, inside Devcon 8 week. ETHGlobal expects 800 or more attendees, 10 or more protocols and 29 or more workshops, with technical mentorship and a beginner-friendly on-ramp.
What you build
Mumbai changes two of the classic rules: a project no longer has to start from an empty repository, and existing code is welcome. Teams are 1 to 5 people and may use up to three sponsor SDKs. Three starting points are offered: From Scratch, show up and ship by the end of the weekend; Extend Open Source, bring a repo you already maintain and ship the feature you have been putting off; and Ship a Feature, build on an existing product during the event and release it as open source.
Prizes
ETHGlobal advertises 175,000 USD available in prizes. Eleven sponsor prizes are published, and they total 150,000 USD, so the balance is not attributed to a named sponsor: World and 1inch at 20,000 USD each; 0G, Uniswap Foundation, Arc, Hedera, Arkiv and Whitechain at 15,000 USD each; ENS at 10,000 USD; Chainlink and Definitive at 5,000 USD each. Per-prize criteria were still listed as coming soon at the time of research.
Timeline
The hackathon runs 5 to 7 November 2026, with Pragma Mumbai the day before on 4 November. Applications close on 3 November 2026 and project submissions are due on 8 November at 09:00 IST, when judging begins.
Getting in
Attendance is by application and the event is free, including food, but ETHGlobal requires hackers to stake a small amount of cryptocurrency to confirm a place. The stake is returned in full to anyone who participates and submits a project. There are no open tickets.
